| Sorry for my bad English. I can't write very much in English.
Now I'll try to translate the core, at least, of my Italian speach.
A great Italian poet, Giovanni Pascoli, wrote these verses at the end of the famous poem 'Castaway': Peace! Peace! Dead calm came back. Peace! Serenity cam back. You are sleaping and, dreaming, you are opening your arms... The english term 'dead calm' is very apprpriate to what Pascoli intended for 'peace': a happy condition to reach only after death. But I want to be happy also in my life! I'm unhappy only because I'm always in war! Peace, for me, means that all people can have what other people have. And without charity. To stay well, in peace, is a right. No 'peace' word there is on my flag because 'peace' isn't enough for me. I would write also 'equality' in it. This word is not used after many years and somebody is ashemed to pronounce it. So I'll explain what it means. It means that if we do a race I modestly will win, but then all of us will eat and dance and make merry, and all of us will go home to sleep, because all of as have something to eat and a house. Is it clear? I don't want to see more people scratching in the rabbish: they are the same people sacking in Bagdad to survive. I don't want to see people looking for Caritas mess. I'm happy because Caritas, WWF, Amnesy, Italia Nostra, etc. exist. But I would they would be unnecessary, because also many politicians are happy of them: so they can ignore these problems. |
