The crab's
thought (September 2000) What the crab thinks in his hole-garden. |
In the present days I'm feeling the meteorological services
are gently tricking me. Nowadays we can't trust more in our weather wizards:
in the recent past they didn't have any tool to foresee not even the next
night weather, while nowadays they have very many modern tools, such as
satellites and glass globes, which they use to exactly foresee some short
term event. Nevertheless nobody dares foretell many million lost souls this
hell burning them, joint to the arson destroying the remaining woods in some
Mediterranean countries. We can understand. A responsible people doesn't
love to spread panic. "The running August is not the most burning in our
history". So they try to encourage us. "Tomorrow a little fresh air will
come, even if the day after the torrid heat will come back". So they try
to comfort us, poor fellows. They do as possible, while here we are spending
our days under the warm air in vain blowed by useless fans. Only if we are
ready to get wet every half hour, by night and by day, we will have a little
relief. The fans are only one of the illusions sold to poor people, while
rich people can have a lot of relayable air conditioning devices in order
to defend the air they breathe from overheating. But perhaps I'm
exaggerating. Perhaps this is an illusion too. Perhaps the rich people too,
at a higher level, are deceived by unscrupulous sellers, in spite of all
consumer associations. But the poor people sometimes are ridiculous. They
are ready to spend a lot of money when certain showmen convince them that
something is very good. So they let empty rooms 'grow cool' with the ventilator
swithed to the maximum power, unaware of the basic physics principles: the
dry objects can't lower their temperature under that the air has in the
next environment. At last the only result is their contribution to
grow the air temperature due to the heat issued by the electric engine going
to encrease the warm air thrown in the streets by the reach people's air
conditioning. These are artless non-sense behaviours. But some other nightmare
sketchs could be seen somewhere in the last days. We have seen in Rome two
million young people, come from all the Catholic world, facing the torrid
weather to meet the Pope and to show their faith and their will to fight
for the peace in the world. Some days after we have seen other catholic young
people meeting in Rimini to discuss some politic and social questions and
to acclaim a different kind of popes. I've thought over that and then I've
decided they are not the same young people. The first people were cheerful
and peaceful; the other people were angry and bellicose. These one are a
support for a new clerical intolerance and for withdrowing from the previous
catholic ecumenism. On the same terrible stage of our world some children
were killed and the most people accused the hated pedophiles as guilty. But
at last we knew that the true guilty was a 'pack' of very young people. Somebody
says the modern parents are not able to show to their children what is wrong
and what is right. I agree, but who is able to do it? The teachers in the
school? Some great brother in TV or in the global net? The politicians? The
priests? The judges? Well. The parents should begin. They were responsible
to throw in the world ways some new human lifes destined to fight to survive
and to prove themself in this damned post-modern society.
